Press Release Body = Cyprus, a destination which has long been associated with its famous sunshine, great climate and historic architecture, may be undertaking steps to improve the quality of life for visitors. The county\'s government has signed a deal with its Greek counterpart which aims to improve the quality of healthcare available on the Mediterranean island. Designed to offer residents the best health services available, an accord signed earlier in the week will see hospitals twinned and experts working together on potential issues such as bird flu, reported local publication the Financial Mirror. This will help to smooth out a few problems which remain in the country\'s health service - which could be good news for anyone buying properties with a view to retiring on the sun-drenched isle. Haris Charalambous, Cypriot minister of health, commented: \"It will be a chance to bring together distinguished Greek and Cypriot scientists ... we will offer everything possible to our citizens.\" This is the second piece of business Cyprus has undertaken recently to open its arms to other countries, with the formation of a new committee to aid the integration of immigrants into the country. This move, which many be beneficial to both Britons retiring in Cyprus and those looking to find tenants to live in buy-to-let properties, was decided after discussions between the government and non-governmental organisations, according to the Financial Mirror. According to a recent report in the Telegraph, Cyprus is currently in something of a state of change, with a number of major political and economic changes afoot to bring the historic island firmly into the 21 st century. This is partly attributed to the country\'s acceptance into the European Union in 2004, which also saw the borders between the country and neighbouring Greece softened. However, the imminent adoption of the euro will no doubt bear an economic impact - one of which is that UK investors with an existing European portfolio may find that their confidence in the market is buoyed. Dr Stelios Platis, compiler of the BuySell Real Estate Home Price Index, told the Telegraph: \"The adoption of the euro is an exciting progression ... the positive effects upon the economy are likely to increase demand in an already buoyant market and lead to an increase in house prices.\" So if you\'re looking to make a profit from an ever-developing country which could be on the verge of something great, or just something to rent out until the time comes to retire, Cyprus could just be the brave new world you\'re looking for.
